How the exact age calculation works
The calculator uses the standard western age-counting convention: it first counts the number of full years elapsed between your date of birth and the reference date, then the remaining full months, and finally the leftover days. This is the same method schools, hospitals and official forms use when they ask for chronological age in years, months and days.
Worked example
Born June 15, 1990, checking the age on June 10, 2024: the last full birthday was the 33rd (June 15, 2023). From that anniversary, 11 full months pass (to May 15, 2024), and 26 more days remain to reach June 10 — so the exact age is 33 years, 11 months, 26 days.
Leap years and February 29 birthdays. Every calculation accounts for leap years — 366-day years and variable month lengths are handled automatically. If you were born on February 29, your birthday in a non-leap year is treated as falling on March 1 (the convention used by most official age calculators), so your age always advances consistently.
